E36 / E46 / Z3 V8 Swap – Sump and Mount Kit for S62 / M60 / M62 / Alpina Engines

Adamat Performance offers a custom-made oil sump, engine mounts, and a universal gearbox mount for V8 engine swaps using BMW's S62 M-series engines, as well as all displacement variants of the M60 and M62 engines. The kit is designed for BMW E36, E46, and Z3 chassis. The sump can also be used in E30 models for projects where the engine is to be relocated 20 cm further behind the bulkhead.

The components are manufactured from structural steel sheet using laser cutting and continuous MAG welding, performed by a certified welder using dedicated jigs. This ensures exceptional durability, resistance to mechanical damage, and high manufacturing precision. Each sump is pressure-tested to verify weld integrity. Kit Contents:

-Latest-model oil sump (2018):

Designed to maintain the original position of the subframe and steering column, while placing the engine as close as possible to the bulkhead in E36, E46, and Z3 models. In E30 builds, it allows for a rearward engine placement (20 cm behind the bulkhead). Engine height can be adjusted using the included spacer washers under the mounts, enabling the subframe to sit lower than the sump. The oil chamber includes an internal baffle and an angled base to help retain oil around the pickup, ensuring consistent lubrication. With minor modification to the original engine mount, air conditioning can still be installed.

-Universal gearbox mount components:

Compatible with manual transmissions from BMW V8 engines as well as straight-six models (M50, M52, M54, M57), and designed to allow proper exhaust routing.

-Subframe modification plates

-Spacer bushings (for E36 only):

Installed between the subframe and chassis, allowing the engine to fit under the factory bonnet without modification. If using an E46 servo and modifying the steering column linkage bracket, the engine can be moved an additional 3 cm rearward, removing the need for these spacers.

-Flywheel and gearbox cover plate:

Includes a timing hole for locking the crankshaft during timing setup.

-Starter motor blanking plug

-Installation guide:

A visual reference manual with detailed photos and instructions covering all necessary chassis and engine modifications.

-Powder-coated in standard black finish

Important for S62 engines:

Requires use of an oil pump from an M60 or M62 engine.

Quality assurance:

Each sump is tested for leaks. In the rare event of a concealed manufacturing defect, Adamat Performance will supply a replacement unit free of charge.

Using this kit, the engine fits under the stock bonnet without external body modifications—preserving the original appearance of your BMW. The engine bay still offers enough space to accommodate a supercharger if desired.
